Location of Almuñecar’s Bus Station
Almuñecar’s bus station is in the center of town near the McDonald’s and Dia% store. It is less than 10 minutes’ walk from the beachside paseo and in under 5 minutes you can walk to the center of the old town area. To get to the top of the San Miguel Barrio, above the town center and near the castle, is about a 15 minute walk.
The bus station is very noticeable and also houses the local police station, parking ticket fine office as well as the Monument to Water. Inside you will find a manned booth to purchase tickets, as well as a vending machine to buy tickets or print timetables. There are a couple of vending machines in its indoor waiting area as well.
There are regular, reasonably-priced Alsa buses to and from numerous other destinations, including Málaga, Granada, Nerja, Almeria and more. Buses have a baggage hold, so it’s easy to use them if you are moving bases as well as for day trips. Depending on the class of bus and the time of day, your bus from Almuñecar to Málaga or Almuñecar to Granada, should take anywhere from 90 minutes to 2 hours. If you are traveling to the airports, it will take a bit longer and usually require a bus transfer at the main station in Málaga or Granada
You can find all bus timetables, largely in English, on the efficient Alsa website given below.
Buying a return (round trip) ticket is usually a bit cheaper than buying two one-way tickets, ask for ‘ida e vuelta’. You may even have an open ended return.
