CD Almuñécar city FC is a professional Fútbol club, owned and operated by FC Málaga City academy and giving players the chance to progress. We are the first “start up soccer” club in Spain, bringing in former Academy players from all over the world who are looking to get back into the professional game.
Who are CD Almuñécar City FC?
They are that new club, right? Well, yes and no. For the last four seasons CD Almuñécar Head Coach/Owner George Jermy (ex-professional player in England, Spain and Australia) has been working with his FC Málaga City Academy, readying young players from all over the world to professional football. The Academy have been playing showcase matches against the Academy sides of Barcelona, Valencia, Granada, Málaga, etc., and many players have gone on to be signed by clubs at a higher level. But, following nearly two years worth of time and money spent behind the scenes, George Jermy is able to finally bring senior football back to Almuñécar in Spain.
Why is the Almunecar City club different to every other club in Spain?
CD Almuñécar are an English speaking football team with players from all corners of the globe. We are here to represent the international community of Almuñécar . We have players from every continent who will accurately represent the local international population, and we’ve made sure it is a team capable of doing the town proud. In preseason the side has beaten teams from much higher levels, including a thrilling 4-1 win over Estepona, recently in Segunda B. Although the Spanish FA have said we have to start at the bottom of the Spanish game, the players, the coaches and the facilities in Almuñécar are more than ready to play at the National level, which is why we need your help.
